Atmos Energy Names Four New Members to Mid-Tex Customer Advisory Board

DALLAS, Texas -- March 17, 2008 -- The Mid-Tex Division of Atmos Energy Corporation (NYSE: ATO) announced today that it has named four new members to its Customer Advisory Board (CAB). The CAB, created in January 2006 provides input and guidance about customer issues and market opportunities that face the company.

“The Mid-Tex CAB helps us to stay abreast of what’s driving our customers’ decisions and what their needs are,” said John Paris, president of the Atmos Energy Mid-Tex Division. “With guidance from CAB members, we have created and shaped innovative services and policies to meet those needs and to help reach our goal of customer service excellence.”

Director of Public Affairs Sandra Doyle, who meets semiannually with the CAB, said, “CAB members represent a good cross section of our customers and they bring great ideas to Atmos Energy to help us make our customer service even better.”

The new board members are:

PembertonEdna Pemberton – Pemberton, a retired retail manager, has received more than 76 community service awards, certificates of recognition, trophies and plaques for her community volunteer work. She is an active member of several organizations including the NAACP, SCLC, National Council of Negro Women, Dallas County Welfare Advisory Board, Bishop Jakes Metroplex Economic Development Corp., Community Emergency Response Team, Dallas Citizens on Patrol and others. In 1990 and 2000, Pemberton volunteered as a representative with the Census Bureau. In 2005, FEMA employed her to help with the mobilization of 73 nonprofit agencies to assist the 51,000 evacuees who came to Dallas in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Governor Rick Perry honored her as one of 14 State of Texas honorees for 2006.  

McDermottGrace McDermott – McDermott is president of the United States Pan Asian American Chamber of Commerce (USPAACC) – Southwestern Region. She has served in numerous volunteer capacities including general chair of the Dallas Opera’s Community Partnership in 2005 and chairwoman of the Greater Dallas Asian American Chamber of Commerce (GDAACC) in 2000. That same year, McDermott initiated and chaired the Intermediary Lending Program at the Greater Dallas Asian American Chamber of Commerce to assist small- to mid-size business owners in the Asian community. She also founded the Organization of Chinese Americans (OCA)—Dallas Chapter, an organization dedicated to securing the inherent rights of Asian Americans. In 1999 while serving as chairwoman of OCA, McDermott was instrumental in bringing the National OCA convention to Dallas for the first time. She was the founding chair of GDAACC Women’s Business Forum which encouraged personal growth and development of women everywhere. During her chairmanship, McDermott accompanied Dallas Mayor Ron Kirk and a business delegation on a trade mission to Hong Kong, Taiwan and China.

BunkleyDenise Y. Bunkley – Bunkley works for CBS11/TXA21 as community affairs coordinator and executive producer of Positively Texas. She has been a broadcasting professional for more than 20 years serving as producer with ABC affiliates in Dallas and Austin and Baton Rouge, Louisiana.  She is an active volunteer with the Parents Association at St. Mark’s School of Texas, the Dallas Chapter of Circle-Let’s and the Dallas Chapter Jack and Jill of America, Inc. Bunkley is a former member of Variety Club of North Texas and a graduate of Southern Methodist University. She is also a member of Leadership Dallas Alumni Association.

 

ReyesAngel Reyes, III is the managing partner for Heygood, Orr, Reyes, Pearson & Bartolomei. Reyes is a  member of the Dallas Bar Association; Board Member, Greater Dallas Hispanic Chamber of Commerce; American Bar Association; Leader’s Forum Member, American Association for Justice; Texas Trial Lawyers Association; Hispanic National Bar Association; Board Member and Secretary, Dallas Hispanic Bar Association; State Bar of Texas Lawyer Referral & Information Services Committee; Million Dollar Advocates Forum; Graduate of Leadership Dallas Class of 2006; Co-Chairman of Greater Dallas Hispanic Chamber of Commerce “Stars on the Rise” Scholarship Banquet, June 2006; City of Dallas Municipal Library Board, 2006-2008; Big Brothers/Big Sisters of North Texas Hispanic Advisory Committee for 2006; In 2003, the Dallas Business Journal SMU Cox School of Business selected Reyes Number 87 out of the top 100 fastest-growing privately held companies in the Dallas area. Reyes is also a frequent guest on TV and radio shows such as CNN’s Lou Dobbs Tonight, CBS-KTVT, talk radio stations throughout the country; as well as a featured guest on Court TV’s national satellite radio channel.
