DALLAS, Texas -- April 12, 2006 -- Atmos Energy Corporation (NYSE:ATO) was named to this year's FORTUNE 500 rankings for the first time. In the new list, Atmos Energy ranks No. 430 based on revenues of $4.9 billion, moving up 150 places from the previous year. "Atmos Energy employees and customers deserve the credit for our growth and success," said Robert W. Best, Atmos Energy chairman, president and chief executive officer. "We've been able to expand our company through hard work, efficient operations, prudent spending and smart acquisitions, and we're delighted to be listed among the FORTUNE 500." In 2004, Atmos Energy purchased TXU Gas and nearly doubled the company's size, adding almost 1.5 million utility customers.
