BOYD, Texas -- May 9, 2006 -- Atmos Energy Corporation today celebrated a ribbon-cutting ceremony for its new service center in Boyd, Texas and several city leaders and members of chambers of commerce from surrounding towns were present for the celebration. An open house and reception followed the ribbon-cutting. “The new service center is strategically centralized within the region which will help us to continue to provide excellent service to customers,” said Scott Powell, Atmos Energy vice president of metro operations for the Mid-Tex Division. “We continually seek to improve service, response time and convenience to exceed the expectations of our customers. As the area’s population grew, we saw the need for a new, more centralized location. This new facility was built to streamline operations and improve customer efficiencies.” L. D. Lopez, City Administrator for the City of Boyd added, “Atmos Energy has invested a total of $1.5 million in the City of Boyd and has 13 employees working at the new facility and contributing to the region’s economy. We are delighted that Atmos Energy has chosen the City of Boyd to build this facility.” The new 10,000 square feet building center will house the company’s construction, meter reading, engineering, distribution, service and compressor operations under one roof and is designed for future expansion as the region grows.
