Atmos Energy (NYSE:ATO), however,reminds customers that now is the time to prepare for winter by signing up for the company’s Budget Billing plan, which should help make natural gas bills more affordable during winter months. “Budget Billing is a great tool to use in managing any household budget,” says Kim R. Cocklin, Atmos Energy senior vice president of utility operations. “The payment amount may vary from month to month due to changes in gas cost and usage, but Budget Billing gives customers a more consistent bill and helps them reduce their highest bills.” Each month, the Budget Billing plan recalculates the average using the previous 12 bills to arrive at the current amount to pay. The monthly payment will change slightly depending upon the most current 12-month average, but stays within a manageable, predictable range. “ By signing up now for our Budget Billing plan, customers can avoid the normal highs and lows in their gas bills this winter,” says Cocklin. “The plan works year-round to even out monthly bills with only slight fluctuations.
