Huntington Bancshares Incorporated Announces Offering of
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- April 15, 2008 -- Huntington Bancshares Incorporated (Nasdaq: HBAN; www.huntington.com) announced today that it is commencing a $500 million public offering of convertible preferred stock. Huntington is also granting the underwriters a 30-day option to purchase up to $75 million of additional convertible preferred stock to the extent the underwriters sell more than $500 million of convertible preferred stock in the offering. The net proceeds will be used for general corporate purposes, including increasing Huntington's liquidity and capital. The convertible preferred stock will have a liquidation preference of $1,000 per share and will be convertible into common stock of Huntington Bancshares Incorporated. Morgan Stanley & Co.
