Huntington Announces the Acquisition of Archer-Meek-Weiler Insurance Agency


COLUMBUS, Ohio -- October 2, 2007 -- Huntington Bancshares Inc. (Nasdaq: HBAN) announced today the acquisition of Archer-Meek-Weiler Agency, Inc., Columbus, Ohio. Archer-Meek-Weiler is a full-service agency that sells personal and commercial insurance as well as group benefits.

Archer-Meek-Weiler was merged with and into Sky Insurance, Inc., Huntington Bancshares' insurance agency affiliate, effective today. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Representing over $60 million in premium volume and 40 employees, Archer- Meek-Weiler is the largest independent agency in Columbus, Ohio with a rich history dating back to 1909. It is anticipated that all employees currently working at Archer-Meek-Weiler will be retained by Sky Insurance and will remain in the Columbus, Ohio area.
