TROY, Michigan -- February 8, 2010 -- Huntington Bancshares announced today that eight seasoned bankers have joined its growing team of commercial bankers to serve the southeastern Michigan market. All eight new colleagues resigned from Comerica on Friday to join Huntington today.

"The addition of these highly successful commercial bankers, all of whom are deeply committed to the region and to their customers, sets the stage for exciting growth here," said Jim Dunlap, Huntington's senior executive vice president for regional and commercial banking and the president of its businesses across Michigan.

"Huntington Bank is investing here because we are committed to the state and to working with businesses to help them grow profitably and increase employment," said Dunlap.  "We are optimistic about the future of Michigan."

In Michigan, Huntington has 1,500 employees, 115 banking offices, 235 ATMs, and a call center in Holland.  It is also the #1 SBA lender in Michigan, a powerful force for job growth.

In the past four months, Huntington assisted the FDIC closure of two failed banks, both in the greater Detroit area.  As a part of its support of the closure of Citizens State Bank in New Baltimore, Huntington opened a new banking office in New Baltimore to better serve the local customers.

Brian Marshall, formerly group manager of Commercial Banking for Comerica, has been named commercial region manager, and reports directly to Dunlap.  Joining Marshall from Comerica are Commercial Team Leader Bayard King; five senior commercial relationship managers -- Kevin Contat, Carrie Fraser, Jeffrey Lafferty, Peter Stasevich and Sarah Virga; and Ann-Margaret Sumnar, regional credit officer.

The new members of the Huntington Commercial Banking team will be located at 803 West Big Beaver Road in Troy and can be reached at 248-244-2974.
