Huntington Bank Unveils Blue Jackets Banking Accompanying Online Interactive Game Attracts Thousands of Players
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- March 2, 2006 -- Columbus' newest sport can be played 24-hours a day at any computer terminal and admission is free. It's an interactive hockey game now featured on Huntington Bank's Web site that was designed to accompany Huntington's unveiling of Blue Jackets Banking. The new banking package includes a free mouse pad, a check card and designer checks all emblazoned with the Blue Jackets' logo. The checking package also includes free Online Banking and Bill Pay. The Blue Jackets Banking online hockey game has attracted more than 4,000 game plays since its debut on Feb. 1, 2006. "At Huntington, we wanted to offer all of the convenience of our checking services along with a fun way to demonstrate fan loyalty to the Blue Jackets," said Jim Kunk, President of Huntington's Central Ohio Region. "We are delighted that the game has attracted so many players and that people are having fun playing." New customers and any current customer can obtain Blue Jackets Banking simply by visiting a banking office, by visiting http://www.huntington.com/bluejacketsbanking/ or by calling 1-877-422-5243 from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. ET weekdays or 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. ET weekends. Anyone interested in playing the game need only visit http://www.huntington.com/bluejacketsbanking/ and click on the interactive blue rectangle with the invitation: "Hit the ice. Join the Blue Jackets squad and check the competition." The premise of the online game is for the player to skate up ice with the puck, dodging and/or checking the opposing electronic players. If you run into an opposing player or the net, you are knocked down and you start back at the point of contact. Time periods in the game are limited to one minute. You must meet or beat your opponent's score to move to the next period. As the game progresses, the play increases in difficulty and speed. There is no set ending to the game, just increased difficulty. When you are done playing, you can play again or challenge a friend by sending them an e-mail with a link to the game. The site also lists the top scorers in the game, which has prompted many players to play and try to beat the champs. Currently, a player with the Web name T-Bone has had the most appearances on the leader board. More and more challengers are logging on to the game every day to see if they can knock T- Bone off the leader board.
