Huntington Welcomes Former Unizan Customers

Local teams supported by expanded resources of national bank

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- April 26, 2006 -- Huntington Bancshares, Incorporated (Nasdaq: HBAN) today announced that approximately 110,000 Unizan consumer household and business accounts were successfully converted to Huntington, effective April 24, 2006. This action follows the merger of Huntington and Unizan that was completed in March 2006. The exterior signage change to Huntington from Unizan is scheduled to be completed at all office locations by mid-May.

"We are pleased to welcome our new customers with the same familiar faces and even more conveniences than before," said Thomas E. Hoaglin, chairman, president and chief executive officer. "Our goal has been to make this transition as smooth as possible."

 

Convenience and updates

Former Unizan customers now have access to nearly 400 banking offices, and almost 1,000 ATMs in five states. In Ohio customers can take advantage of more than 200 banking offices and approximately 550 ATMs.

Planned investments in Zanesville include enhancements to the Downtown Zanesville and Maple Bell offices. Huntington is finalizing details for a new drive-up banking facility adjacent to the downtown Zanesville Main office. The $250,000 investment will result in a facility that includes two customer service stations, a drive up ATM and night depository. Additionally, an interior renovation of the Maple Bell banking office is nearing completion. The refurbished office includes new floor treatments, lights, offices and furniture to better serve customers. The $140,000 facelift will provide private customer sales space and improve the overall environment. Future exterior upgrades, including drive-up equipment, lighting and building finishes with further showcase the site.

 

Top-rated online banking

In addition, former Unizan customers can now take advantage of Huntington's Online Banking and Bill Pay -- making banking even easier. One of the most highly rated online banking experiences in the country, Online Banking provides a secure and convenient way to bank any where, any time. The newest features include:

  • Enhanced login security;
  • Easy reporting tools;
  • Quickbook downloads;
  • Future dated transfers;
  • Secure customer service center;
  • And, a variety of ways to sort transactions.

Businesses also gain with Huntington's Business Online with services that help owners manage their money more effectively.

 

Advertising showcases local teams and service enhancements

Local leaders from Canton and Zanesville are featured in television advertising to welcome former Unizan customers to Huntington. The campaign also is supported by print and radio messages that feature new service benefits. The introductory advertising campaign will run through May.
