Unizan Financial Corp. Files for Extension of Form 10-K Filing Date

CANTON, Ohio -- March 15, 2005 -- Unizan Financial Corp. (Nasdaq: UNIZ), today announced that it has filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission for an automatic extension of 15 calendar days to file its annual report on Form 10-K for the year ended December 31, 2004. Unizan filed the extension request because it will be unable to complete the preparation of its consolidated financial statements as well as management's assessment of internal controls over financial reporting by March 16, 2005, the initial filing date, without unreasonable effort or expense. The Company anticipates filing its annual report on Form 10-K on March 31, 2005.
