CANTON, Ohio -- July 2, 2003 --Unizan Financial Corp., announced today that the company has been recognized in The Plain Dealer 100 which ranks Ohio's best performing public companies in 2002.

The June 26 issue of The Plain Dealer (Cleveland, Ohio), listed Unizan Financial Corp. in several categories in the newspaper's annual Plain Dealer 100. The categories included "best banks in Ohio" and "fastest growing companies based on revenue." Also, Unizan Financial Corp. placed in the over- all top 100 ranking based on seven financial performance measures.
